Stellar Acappella at IUMH on Saturday 15th March 2025

With the candelabra alight, the Ipswich Unitarian Meeting House rocked to the sounds of Stellar Acappella, the 29 (out of the usual 38) all-female acapella choir, in a concert organised by the Friends of IUMH.
The music, sung in four-part harmony, included Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Flowers the hit song by Miley Cyrus,, Sisters are Doing it For Themselves (Pointer Sisters) and much more. The programme of music included several choir soloists and Simply Stella with Gaynor Schofield, the choir’s Musical Director, joined by three choir members.

A guest appearance by the jazz trio, Three Nix gave a change of style. On vocals was Vicky Platt ( a choir member), her husband Peter Platt on guitar and Dixfix Deacon on double bass. They proudly told us that at a previous performance the audience included the King- when Prince Charles!
At the Meeting House the audience loved the music, the performers loved the venue – and the wine was good too!
Thank you to all the performers – it was a really good night, raising money for a beautiful historic building.
